Sheriff Lew Evangelidis dropped off the 3,500 coats his office raised in its annual coat drive this week at charities around the area.

“During the holiday season, the Sheriff’s Annual Winter Coat Drive helps to ensure that local families who may be in need are provided with an adequate winter coat,” said Evangelidis.

The effort was a collaborative one with Wachusett Mountain Ski Area, The Worcester County Reserve Sheriff’s Association, Warmer Winters of Leominster, Twin City Cleaners of Dudley and others. Additionally, Clark Mailing Service donated 3,000 shirts. The Krock family and the Workers Credit Union both donated $2,500.
