Comprehensive Benefits Package

Retirement

  • 20 years creditable service retirement option 
    • – After 10 years all employees are fully vested into the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Retirement System.
    • – After 20 years Correctional Officers are entitled to 50% of their annual salary under the group 4 classification 20/50. After 20 years of service, the percentage of retirement year increases.
  • 457 Deferred Compensation and Roth Plans
    • – The 457 Deferred Compensation Plan allows state employees to set aside a portion of earnings through a payroll deduction as an investment for retirement. (Similar to a 401k)

    • – Twelve week paid training academy

    • – Correctional officers are eligible to receive an annual clothing stipend
