SHERIFF EVANGELIDIS PROMOTES WORCESTER’S DENNIS DOWD TO ASSISTANT DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Announces Promotion of Deputy Dowd

 

WEST BOYLSTON, MA- Sheriff Evangelidis and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) are proud to announce the promotion of Dennis Dowd to the rank of Assistant Deputy Superintendent.

 

Effective immediately, Deputy Dowd will begin his role as Assistant Deputy Superintendent and will be responsible for the daily security operations of the Modular Compound monitoring inmate activity and overseeing correctional staff, hospital coverage, and the New Man, Quarantine, and Transition Unit buildings while ensuring safety of both inmates and staff.

 

“Deputy Dowd is an exemplary member of the department, serves his community proudly, and is more than ready to take on this new role,” said Sheriff Evangelidis. “He brings with him 25 years of hard work, professionalism and leadership and will no doubt advance the mission of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.”

 

Attaining the rank of Assistant Deputy Superintendent is among the highest achievements at the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and signifies excellence in the field of corrections.

 

Deputy Dowd started his career with the WCSO in June 1997 and has 21 years’ experience working line operations in both the Main Jail and Modular Compound as well as several years in Receiving and Classification.

 

“I appreciate the opportunity to improve the facility for both the staff and the inmates housed at the institution,” stated Assistant Deputy Superintendent Dowd.

 

Deputy Dowd was promoted to sergeant in July 2007, lieutenant in January 2014, and captain in July 2017. Dowd is a graduate of Nichols College and holds a bachelor’s degree in management.
