LEICESTER — Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis introduced the Drug Prevention Program Face2Face to the eighth-grade students at Leicester Middle School recently as part of the Sheriff’s Substance Abuse Prevention and Education Initiative for Worcester County Schools. The Face2Face System uses cutting edge technology and special computer software to simulate the shocking effects substance abuse can have on a person’s appearance over time. Students at Leicester Middle School were able to see firsthand the potential devastating impact drug use can have on their very own classmates.
“Almost 90 percent of the inmates incarcerated at the Worcester County House of Correction are addicted to drugs or alcohol; as sheriff I have focused on prevention and education as the best way to keep our youth from starting on that direct path to prison,” Sheriff Evangelidis continued.
“As a father I know how concerned young people are with their appearance. The Face2Face Program demonstrates firsthand the shocking effect substance abuse can have on the way they look, and as sheriff it is my goal to bring this program to every school in Worcester County.”

I recommended the Face2Face Program for every school in Worcester County, and on behalf of Leicester Middle School I cannot thank Sheriff Evangelidis enough for his visit.” said Leicester Middle School Guidance Councilor Kathy Warnken.
