West Boylston – Sheriff Evangelidis received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.
He was nominated by Officer Jordan Kuzio, who the Sheriff met with after he returned from a one year deployment to the Middle East. “The Patriot Award presented to the Sheriff is recognition by the serviceman for the support shown to him while in service to our country. Sheriff Evangelidis and his department are to be commended for their support to those that serve” said Arthur Parker, a Representative from ESGR.
The Sheriff also signed a Statement of Support with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Signing this reaffirms the Sheriff’s Department’s commitment to promote participation in the National Guard and Reserve and to accommodate members who are called to service, like the officers who were called to after this month’s tornado. “I am honored to have received this award,” Evangelidis said, “The Sheriff’s Department is committed to do everything we can to support those who wish to serve their county.”
