WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Boys & Girls Club once again teamed up with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to give Christmas gifts to as many children as possible.
The organizations hosted the annual Jingle Bell Toy Drive on Monday. Visitors donated money, gift cards or a new unwrapped toy, which will benefit some of the local Boys & Girls Club members.
Boys & Girls Club CEO Liz Hamilton said they’re hoping to help families with more than just gifts.
“What I love about this event is sometimes, it’s people we only see once a year around the holidays, but many are alumni of our club, others are businesses who support our club in many different ways,” Hamilton said. “But it truly is a celebration of many different types of community members coming together to support our kids. And this year, we plan on serving about 2,000 youth and their families with food, clothing and also toys.”
Hamilton said one out of five kids are going to bed hungry in the U.S., and this is just one very small step to address the issue.
