We want to thank Worcester County Sheriff Lewis Evangelidis for the generous donation of winter coats to Tradewinds Clubhouse. In just three short weeks, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department, along with several local partners, were able to collect 1,300 coats and distribute them to several community service agencies like ours.

Tradewinds is a vocational rehabilitation program serving adults with mental illness in the Southbridge area. Our goal is to assist individuals to enter the workforce through employment placement and education. This generous donation will help these individuals overcome one of the barriers that can prevent them from full community involvement. These coats will be distributed to many of our members who are in need of a warm coat. Several of the coats that we received will go to our members who serve as Salvation Army bell ringers or other jobs outdoors during the cold weather months.

I urge the readership to continue to support the many food and coat drives, as I am personally able to witness the good that it does. We are thrilled to have a partnership with Mr. Evangelidis and his department.
