WORCESTER – Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis and Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd have announced that the Office of the Worcester County Sheriff and the Worcester Sharks Organization have teamed up with Price Chopper for the 7th Annual Worcester County Sheriff’s Food Drive to be held when the Worcester Sharks host the Connecticut Whale on Saturday, November 17th at 7:00p.m. at the DCU Center.

In addition, former New England Patriot Kevin Faulk will sign autographs in the DCU Center Concourse from 2-4pm and Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis will drop the puck at game time.

All fans that donate a canned food item at the Worcester Sharks game on November 17th will receive a FREE ticket voucher to the Sharks game on Tuesday, January 16th vs. the Hershey Bears compliments of Price Chopper.  All collected food will go directly to the Friendly House of Worcester to be distributed to needy families throughout the Worcester area in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

“The Worcester Sharks Organization is thrilled to partner with Sheriff Evangelidis and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, The Friendly House and Price Chopper again this season for the 7th Annual Food Drive.”  said Mudd. “It is important for everyone to assist those who are less fortunate, especially as we get ready for the holiday season.”

Over 40,000 pounds in donated food items were collected last season, feeding over 800 local families in need for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  The Sharks and Sheriff hope to surpass that goal this season, “Once again, I am looking forward to teaming up with the Worcester Sharks, Price Chopper,  and the Friendly House for this year’s  7th Annual Food Drive.”  Evangelidis continued  “As the holiday season approaches especially during this difficult economic time, it is extremely important to do all we can to help those families in our community who may be less fortunate. The Food Drive has been an extremely successful annual event and we are determined to surpass our previous goals to help those families who may be in need.” said Evangelidis

In addition non-perishable food items may also be dropped off on November 9th at the Worcester Price Chopper located at 50 Cambridge Street from 9:00 am to noon.
