SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Shrewsbury seniors enjoyed holiday cheer and put food in the pantry when Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis paid a visit to the Shrewsbury Senior Center on Dec. 20 as part of the 2012 Sheriff’s Holiday Turkey Program for seniors.

“We are very appreciative of Sheriff Evangelidis for generously bringing Christmas Day meals of turkeys, cranberry sauce and pies to our senior center,” said Shrewsbury Senior Center Executive Director Sharon Yager. “The Sheriff’s Holiday Turkey Program is a wonderful help for our seniors during the holiday season.”

Shrewsbury resident Belton Wall said, “It was great to see the sheriff here today, and what a nice surprise to receive a holiday turkey.”

The sheriff made nine stops across Worcester County to distribute more than 300 turkeys. The program was made possible by Table Talk Pies and private donations through the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff Association.
