LEICESTER – Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis and Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. teamed up this past week to promote senior citizen safety by hosting “The First Annual Worcester County Senior Safety Summit” held at the Leicester Country Club.

Attended by Police and Fire Chiefs and Senior Center Directors from over 31 towns throughout Worcester County, the meeting was a collaborative effort between local law enforcement and the Council on Aging to identify and address the public safety needs and concerns of the senior community.

“This was a great opportunity for the District Attorney’s office, Sheriff’s office and Council on Aging directors to provide programs and information to the senior citizens of Worcester County,” said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.”In these hard economic times, partnerships like this are necessary.”

“As Sheriff, keeping our senior citizens safe is one of my highest priorities and I am thrilled to be partnering with District Attorney Early to effectively provide programs and information that serve as a great public safety resource for them.” Evangelidis continued, “Today’s meeting emphasizes the strong commitment we both share in protecting the senior citizens of Worcester County.”

The educational forum hosted by Sheriff Evangelidis and District Attorney Early on senior safety was so well received, it will now become an annual event cosponsored by the two law enforcement officials.
