HOLDEN, Mass. — Following up his visit to Wachusett Regional High School last week, Sheriff Lew Evangelidis brought the Face2Face Program to Mountview Middle School as well on Thursday, giving the younger students an early opportunity to see firsthand the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse.
“As Sheriff, I am always honored to spend time in the Wachusett Regional School System meeting with our students,” said Evangelidis. “Last week I had the pleasure of returning to my former High School, Wachusett Regional to present the Face2Face Program to over 500 9th grade students and today I am thrilled to return to my former middle school, Mountview to meet with the entire 7th and 8th grades as well.”
The Face2Face Program was donated by individuals and businesses who are dedicated to the County’s youth, and uses cutting edge technology and special computer software to simulate the shocking effects substance abuse can have on a person’s appearance over time.
“With almost 90 percent of the inmates today at the Worcester County House of Correction addicted to drugs or alcohol, I have focused on substance abuse prevention and education with our county’s youth,” added Evangelidis. “As the only Sheriff in the country presenting this program, it was extremely important for me to bring the Face2Face message to the Wachusett Regional School system which has meant so much to my family.”
