Reserve Deputies Kyle Shelton and Diane Parker, along with Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, deliver groceries and medications to the seniors of KT Housing in Auburn to help keep them safe during COVID-19.

AUBURN — Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis and members of the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Association have been assisting over forty housebound seniors who live at the Kateri Tekakwitha (KT Senior Housing) Building in Auburn during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Since early March, Sheriff Evangelidis and his Reserve Deputies have been on active volunteer duty every week assisting the elderly by completing their grocery shopping and medication pick-up to help them during the current health crisis.
Their mission, to help keep seniors safe and well during COVID-19 by limiting their exposure to the public. Both the Sheriff and his Reserve Deputies are incredibly proud to help out and the KT Housing seniors who have received their assistance during the pandemic are extremely grateful. “I cannot thank Sheriff Evangelidis and these wonderful Reserve Deputies enough. This help means so much. Somebody cares out there and they are willing to help the elderly by picking up our groceries and medications during this scary time,” said KT Housing Resident Joan Cicio.
“I could not be more proud of our Reserve Deputies for their service during this pandemic to help our elderly stay safe and well. Our COVID19 Response Program to assist our senior population with their grocery and medication pickup each week during this challenging time is another extraordinary way of how our Reserve Deputies care and give back to our community,” said Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis. The Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Association is a charitable and civic organization, made up of Reserve Deputies who organize and sponsor many worthy charitable causes in Worcester County throughout the year, including Annual Food and Coat Drives and the Sheriff’s Annual Senior Picnic. Over fifty Reserve Deputies responded to the call to assist the community during COVID19. “The Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s Association is an incredible force of good throughout Worcester County. We faithfully help thousands of folks in our community each year with our annual food and coat drives among many other charitable endeavors. During this uncertain and challenging time of COVID-19, we are certainly glad that we could be of assistance to help out our senior population,” said Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis.
