At the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction, visitation is an important element of an inmate’s incarceration. While we recognize that visitation is crucial for maintaining an inmate’s ties to the community, we are also aware that visitation is a manner through which drugs and other forms of contraband are introduced into the facility. To counteract this safety concern, we have implemented a non-contact visitation policy at this facility. Below you will find the visitation policy, the recent changes that have been made, and how to verify visiting hours for a particular inmate. VISITATION POLICY Inmates are allowed up to three visits per week. Upon arrival at the Worcester County Jail and House of Corrections, incoming inmates are allowed to list up to seven individuals who will be permitted to visit the inmate in allotted visiting hours. Individuals who are not listed as approved visitors in an inmate’s file will not be allowed to visit the inmate. Visitors to the facility are required to sign in and complete a “Request to Visit Inmate Form” upon their arrival at the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction. Visitors will be required to produce a current photo identification such as a driver’s license, RMV identification card, military card, Immigration card, passport, welfare card or other form of valid I.D. Failure to produce a valid acceptable identification may result in the denial of a visit. Upon arrival, visitors must disclose any articles, other than clothing, they may be carrying such as personal effects or medication. Visitors must then successfully pass through the metal detector. There are lockers provided by the facility for visitors to leave personal property in; otherwise, personal property must be left outside the facility. Only two (2) adult visitors and a reasonable amount of children per inmate shall be allowed in the Visiting Room at one time. RECENT REVISIONS ** PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE FOLLOWING REVISIONS WERE MADE TO THE PREVIOUS VISITATION POLICY AND ARE NOW IN EFFECT: THE FOLLOWING VISITORS WILL BE DENIED ENTRANCE TO THE FACILITY: • Any person who has previously conducted visits with at least three (3) other inmates during the prior five (5) years • Any person who has been convicted of drug possession during the prior ten (10) years • Any person with any open criminal cases within any jurisdiction • Any former inmate • Any person on parole or probation • Any person currently under indictment • Children, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian • Any person who has been convicted of drug distribution or trafficking Any person who is a co-defendant on a felony charge for which the inmate is being held
